As 2024 draws to a close, I find myself reflecting on the incredible journey we've shared over the past ten years at GRACE. Together, we’ve built something extraordinary – a place where our neighbors can turn during the hardest times and the coldest nights.
This holiday season, we wish for you and your family the same things we work so hard everyday to provide: a sense of peace, of safety, and a warm, dignified place to be with those you love. With your help this year, we’ve been able to do just that for nearly 400 members of our community – and over 3,190 people since we opened in 2014.
What began as a big idea today has grown into an award-winning shelter, housing program, and outreach provider. I hope as you read Lisa’s story, you’ll know that, together, we’re making a difference. Lisa lived in a tent with her partner and two dogs. With limited mobility, Lisa struggled to navigate the city and connect with services she needed. All that changed in March, when she met our Street Outreach Team. From there, we got her connected to public housing, an accessible, affordable place to live, and transportation. By November, Lisa signed a lease for a new home, leaving her tent behind for good.
In the year ahead, we’ll all need to work together to take care of the most vulnerable members of our community. Your holiday gift ensures that our doors are always open when people in our community have nowhere else to turn. People will always need support. They will always need respect. They will always need grace. And they will always need YOU.
With gratitude,
Jon DeCarmine
Chief Executive Officer
